Does GTA 6 have a fuel system?
Yes, according to Flow Games’ interview with Rob Nelson: cars and motorcycles can run out of fuel; electric vehicles have charging points.
Source and scope: Flow Games, August 27, 2026 (Portuguese). This is pre-release reporting, not our testing of the released game. This guide concerns the campaign; it does not establish GTA Online rules.
Our advice: prepare a simple way to observe your trips without budgeting around an assumed price or range. The vehicle you enjoy exploring in may not be the one you want to compare for a specific activity.
Three habits for your first trip.
These are our preparation suggestions, not a tested GTA 6 refueling procedure.
Check before you set off.
At launch, first find the fuel or charge display and any warnings. Record what the interface actually shows. Do not turn an approximate gauge into a precise distance estimate.
Give the trip a purpose.
For your first exploration, choose a recognisable destination and keep a note of your route. A sightseeing detour can be the best part of a session, but it makes a poor comparison with a direct trip.
Separate travel from incidents.
If you are evaluating travel for an activity, record stops, purchases and interruptions separately. A repair or one-time purchase should not accidentally become the assumed running cost of every outing.
A trip record you can actually use.
Copy these four rows into your notes at launch. One observation is a useful personal reference; it is not enough to declare the most economical vehicle in the game.
| Record | Your note | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Context | Mode, version, vehicle and route. | Observations under different conditions are not directly comparable. |
| Start and finish | The displayed level at both points, without invented precision. | A partial trip does not establish full-tank range. |
| Stops | Total time and the reason for each interruption. | Separate driving time from time spent on another activity. |
| Spending | The amount and purpose of each payment, if any. | Keep purchases, repairs and travel expenses separate. |
To put travel into the context of a complete activity, read our stolen-car selling guide. For spending decisions, open the money guide.
Refueling: the questions still open here.
How much does a refill cost, and how long does it last?
This guide has neither a verified price nor a repeatable range test. A future comparison should identify the vehicle, starting level, route and interruptions. A number without those conditions is not a reliable budget.
Where do you refuel, and which controls do you use?
We are not publishing a station map or control tutorial yet. At launch, follow the in-game prompts and check access conditions before sharing a location or procedure.
Can you turn the system off?
The cited source does not establish a setting to disable it. We will leave the answer open until a verifiable setting or a specific announcement resolves it.
Continue with the weapons and inventory briefing and the launch checklist.
